B5tec and ESA-BIC powering the space together

B5tec now is part of the Business Incubation Centre of the European Space Agency in Madrid with a project related to the development of micro fuel cells for applications in  miniaturized satellites for space research, and in the future to any mission that requires an independent source of energy. Fuel cells had a long trajectory in the history of space exploration, from the missions to the moon until nowdays, these devices fulfill the requirements of a primary battery just releasing power, or can be implemented in a closed loop as a secundary battery for continuos charge-discharge cycles. The project will cover two years of research and development with the goal to test a functional prototype of the micro fuel cell in laboratory conditions.
